A LINAC door is the most critical radiation safety component in any radiotherapy bunker. When a linear accelerator operates above 10 MV, it generates both photon (X-ray) and secondary neutron radiation — requiring a dual-layer shielding system that addresses both radiation types simultaneously.
Carbon steel or stainless steel outer structure providing mechanical strength and radiation-tight edge sealing on all 4 sides.
Virgin lead (ASTM B-29) for primary photon (X-ray & gamma) attenuation. 5–50 mm Pb equivalent, project-specific. Uniform thickness, max 3% variation.
Hydrogen-rich borated polyethylene (min. 5% boric oxide, IAEA compliant) for neutron attenuation. 50–100 mm equivalent. Required for LINACs above 10 MV.
